Spinner

  • The front spinner motor utilizes a 4lb industrial ball bearing to distribute impact forces to the heavy steel motor case rather than the motor shaft. The motor itself is a heavily modified trolling motor. Both front and rear caps are custom machined, and the brush plate inverted to reduce the profile of the motor itself. A 5/8" roller bearing supports the new shaft front, and the rear plate is machined to match the robot's profile and mount flush to the baseplate. Flails are attaced via steel aircraft cable to a CNC'ed aluminum enclosure for the bearing. Future plans will upgrade flails to S7 tool steel and increased power.
